Forests and Lakes

Extensive walks through forests and meadows

The Lago dell’Accesa, which is like “a pearl in the green”, was formed about 220 million years ago from a karst depression with limestone. The lake (at the deepest point about 37,60 m deep.) Of course, fed with springs from the ground and the river Bruna, which flows into the sea, springs from this lake. It is a popular fishing lake due to the lush fish fauna, but the lake is also a great alternative to the sea as it is one of the cleanest lakes in Italy with its clear waters. Also worth mentioning are the archaeological sites of an Etruscan settlement in the forest, right on the lake, the land fauna with some very rare animals and the flora around the lake.

The lake is located 10km from Ostello.

… or the little Siena of Maremman

Pure Romanesque Middle Ages characterizes the lower town of Citta Vecchia with its Piazza Garibaldi, which is considered one of the most beautiful squares in Tuscany. The Gothic-influenced Citta Nuova is dominated by a mighty fortress.

The star-shaped Piazza Garibaldi formed the spiritual and secular center of the city centuries ago.
